Future Earth Africa Hub Youth Futures Cluster
The Future Earth Africa Hub African Youth Futures Cluster is a project that builds on the T-learning PhD study of Injairu Kulundu-Bolus focussing on T-learning and African Youth Futures. It seeks to establish an accountable and reflexive space for exploring how African youth can regenerate futures beyond the templates of colonial modernity. Its purpose is to slow down, listen deeply, and engage in transgressive social learning that helps surface the critical questions shaping African Youth Futures in relation to regenerative sustainability education. The project aims to map and understand the discourses, practices, and orientations—often marginalised or rendered fugitive—that young people are using to navigate and reimagine their worlds. Through slow scholarship, collective sensemaking, and careful relational work, the Cluster aims to craft a conceptual foundation that aligns the integrity of its inquiry with the lived realities and aspirations of youth across the continent.
The core objectives of the Cluster are to co-create a cutting-edge platform for critical thought, regenerative activism, and transgressive learning that supports mutually dignified futures. This involves convening diverse youth networks; nurturing ecologies of empowerment; and experimenting with new forms of co-engaged educational interventions and regenerative sustainability practices. The Cluster seeks to amplify rising cultures of change, strengthen alliances across local and continental networks, and develop pathways that anchor sustainability sciences in ways that are relevant to African youth. Ultimately, the project aims to reconfigure sustainability education, expand the conditions for youth agency, and foster emergent accountability within and across networks, moving toward regenerative African futures worthy of our collective longing.
